DISPATCH CHANNEL 483/486.2875
This channel is for dispatch messages between dispatch centers. No mobiles or portables are to be operated on this channel. This channel is for reporting incidents and dispatch messages including line box notifications. All requests for special apparatus or special teams should be made of the control center via this channel.
RED CHANNEL 483/486.3125 154.220 SIMULCAST
This channel is for enroute directions to mobiles and fireground use.
This channel utilizes both VHF and UHF units and provides for inter station /
inter mobile / inter portable communications. It may be used for
communication with apparatus responding to / returning from mutual aid / line
box assignments; or during mutual aid assignments.
On request of the control center by the fire community incident commander, this channel may be assigned as the fireground channel for any greater alarm fire.
In case of a failure of the dispatch channel, this channel will become the
emergency backup channel for dispatch use. All member communities will be
notified of such use by the control center.
(It is planned that this channel's coverage will be upgraded by the addition
of satellite receivers and repeaters.)
BLUE CHANNEL 483.2625 486.2625
These direct frequencies will be used for the HAZMAT teams and/or for incident command staff functions on request of the control center by the incident commander.
NOTE: The control center will maintain of the RED and BLUE channels and assign their use on a priority basis. If the RED channel is in use at an incident not involving mutual aid companies when an incident evolves requiring mutual aid companies; a transition of radio traffic will be requested to the mutual aid incident.
The control center is charged with judiciously controlling the METROFIRE channel usage; and announcing to all units when assignments of the RED and BLUE channels are made.
